TLDR: If you cannot connect to Konfir or it doesn't apply to your income type, you can skip this step in your Homeppl application by selecting "Skip employment verification" in the Income section. This is useful for self-employed individuals, non-UK employees, unsupported payroll providers, those without a Government Gateway account, or if facing technical issues.
Skipping Konfir
If you are unable to connect to Konfir, or if Konfir does not apply to your income type, you can skip the step and continue with your application. Your bank statements or Open Banking data will still be used to verify your proof of income.
To skip:
- Go back to the Income section of your Homeppl application.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page.
- Select Skip employment verification.
Once you have selected this, you will be able to continue with the rest of your application as normal.
When might I need to skip Kopnfir?
You may need to skip the Konfir step if:
- You are self-employed and not paid through PAYE
- You work for a non-UK company
- Your employer's payroll provider is not supported by Konfir
- You do not have a Government Gateway account and do not want to create one
- You are experiencing a technical issue connecting to one of the data sources.
Will skipping Konfir affect my application?
Konfir is an additional verification tool, not a requirement. If you have already provided your bank statements or connected via Open Banking, Homeppl can use those details to review your proof of income. However, verifying this information without Konfir may delay the speed at which your application is processed.
